This is our first spring in our new home in the west of Ireland. A whole new place and experience, the timings of things so different from anywhere I have lived before. It has rained more and heavier here than I have ever seen — even in Derry and Edinburgh. I still haven’t heard the cuckoo but my young son and I saw the cuckoo flower a week ago today, always a sign for me that spring is on her way. The picture above is of first light on that day—Easter Sunday—the day, many moons ago, that I ran— not much older than my child is now, from my first home .
